i have some questions about baby bunnies..bunny experts please answer?
my rabbit just gave birth, its her first litter, and so far shes done a good job, she made her nest in the nesting box right before she kindled and has covered up the babies perfectly, and they are all alive so far, and she lives in my basement and the heater or furn-es, what ever its called, turns on every like 20-25 minutes and it kinda loud. shes in a room like 10 feet away and its a big room and she on the other side of the room, but im worried that shes gonna feed the kits and stomp them or something when the heater turns on suddenly??? please help, tell me what i can do to help her!!!

I agree with Amber except for the part where the mom removes the dead babies. In 25 yrs and hundreds of litters, I’ve never had a rabbit remove a dead baby from the nest box. I would give the doe all the food and water and hay she wants, check the babies and remove any dead ones, or left over placentas, or any wet/bloody nesting material. Then put the nest back, and leave the doe alone. For a new mom, I only check the babies once when they are born, then once a day just to make sure they are fat and sassy. If the babies have fat tummies when you check them in the morning, the doe is feeding them. Then leave them alone. Also, you didn’t mention what breed of rabbit you have. Some breeds can have deformed babies, and these should be removed from the nest box and disposed of ASAP.
