How To Use Stompboxes
What do I need to have in order to use an Alesis Quadraverb?
I’ve never used a rack mounted unit before, and I don’t really understand how effects loops work. I’ve only used stompboxes, so it goes guitar –> stompboxes –> amp input. How do I fit a Quadraverb into that mix? I haven’t bought one yet, but am planning on doing so after hearing that so many of my favorite artists used one. Thanks!
You can use it directly inline, like a stompbox. If your amp has an effects loop. you can run it from the loop out to the effect in, and vice versa. Basically, not any different, just located after the preamp stage in the amplifier. Try it both places, and see which you prefer.

Whats Do I need to know about electric guitars?
I dont know any thing about effects, pedals, stompboxes, and pick ups. can anyone tell me about what are they and how do use them?
Stompboxes, pedals and effects are all kind of the same thing. Stompboxes are what we call analog type effects pedals. The other type of effects pedals are multi-effects pedals. So a stompbox pedal can be whatever, a distortion pedal, chorus pedal, etc. A multi-effects pedal does a bunch of different effects all in one pedal. To most seasoned guitarist the stompbox is superior in tone compared to a multi-effects pedal, but that’s opinion I suppose (personally I think multi-effects sound cheesy due to there digital processing). Pickups are what “picks up” the sound of the strings vibrations and sends an electrical signal to the amplifier. Pickups are what makes a electric guitar “electric”.
