What can I do to produce perfect vocal harmoizations?

I write songs using an acoustic guitar and vocals and record them at home. I use a usb condenser mic on either Audacity or Cool Edit Pro. Is there anything I can do to produce perfect back up harmonizations using just a USB mic and these simple programs? I normally just sing them on a seperate track, but I was wondering if there are any programs or VST plugins that will create the harmonizing vocals for me…
Also, is there any way I can do this in real-time? Like using a pedal and amp, only through my PC. I know they make a pedal that can do this, is there a way I can do it on my computer?

I have been wondering the same thing. There are vst plugins for this but the are all ridiculously expensive. If you dont mind paying for them, you can find them here

Best product for my home recording (with laptop) needs?

I have a bass, a guitar, electronic drums and midi keyboard. Also, a guitar to usb interface and most cables i would need. The laptop has a single mic/line in input, and usb ports of course. I also plan on buying some type of microphone. I am planning to create metal music as well as experimental stuff. I can now record with audacity the bass and drums through the line in port. I can record guitar that way too (guitar to pedal to line in, in audacity). I also have the option of midi usb connecting my e-drums to some vst. Still working on that. And the option to use the guitar to usb interface to record guitar with effects with the tape deck of guitar rig 4.
I am thinking of some type of “audio interface” or external soundcard (don’t really know the difference) that would help me with my current setup’s limitations. Any suggestions? We re talking about a normal budget here. Thanks.
