Guitar Pedals Sound Samples
Help please, bought a new electric guitar and it sounds like a classic guitar, need help ASAP?
I just bought an electric guitar last night ( I’m a beginner by the way ) and it sounds like a classic guitar, even with distortion.

My guitar is AXL shadow with a 10 watts amp..
Also, I heard some people using something called “distortion pedal”, do I need any equipment like that to make it sound right ?

I did bother to download your mp3 and there’s something ‘orribly wrong somewhere. It sounded very muffled for two humbuckers going into a 10W amp. Basics, is the tone control set to “bright” on the guitar, are you in the middle or treble position with the pickup switch. The gain on the amp is way too low to be able to pull off a riff like Crazy train properly, the MP3 sounds like there’s no distortion and very little gain at all. You haven’t said what amp you are using, that would help in diagnosing how to set up the controls or if there is a fault with the amp or the guitar lead. I’ve used some rough old 10W practice amps in my time and if one sounded this naff I’d be into troubleshooting mode. Assuming you’ve tried all combinations of amp control twiddling the next thing is to try your guitar on another amp and then try the other amp with a pedal. See if your mates will help. Your playing is OK, just the gear is letting you down.
