Do think its ok for me to get a new guitar?
I’m 13 and I have a telecaster I got from my uncle 2 years ago and so far I’ve been playing guitar for a year but have played bass for 4 years since I was 9, I’m just not satisfied with my guitar since it was made specifically for country music, and I’ve been into the Fender Jaguar, I pay for everything I get for guitar; amps, pedals, instruments, you name it. So my guitar teacher thinks I have a real nice telecaster so I think he might think I’m spoiled if I get a new guitar, and I don’t want that image mckay, because I’m definatley not spoiled I never beg for anything and my parents say I’m the best behaving of all my simblings, so I’m not sure how to get this down, so could you tell me what I could do here?
One of the greatest studio guitarists of all time (Tommy Tedesco) did most of his work on a Tele. This was movies,rock, tv, jingles,jazz,country, etc. Don’t think that a tele is just for country. Listen to Albert Collins,Mike Bloomfield, Roy Buchanan, when they made their blues albums. They made their teles scream with great leads. A lot of guitarists suffer from G.A.S. ( gear acquisition syndrome) Its cool that you pay for all of your equipment, but don’t overlook the huge recording history of the tele that your uncle gave you. Your guitar teacher knows what a good axe you have and was honest enough to let you know. If you want another guitar that’s fine, but I would strongly recommend that you keep your tele and not swap it off. When you get older, you will thank me for this advice.
