master of puppets amp sound/tone settings?

i have a Line 6 POD XT Live guitar pedalboard so my amp doesn’t matter cause my amp is going to act as a cabinet/speaker. but just so you know i have a MARSHALL MG250DFX.

kirk hammett’s lead.

my pedal’s amp controls are: drive, bass, mid, treble, presence, volume.

what should they be?

my guitar is a ibanez rg120 with an emg bridge pickup.

Here’s the nifty little site that came from. And actually yes, the amp still matters a great deal – a crappy amp will kill tone, no matter what you run through it. Low wattage, poor frequency response, crappy quality anything will kill tone… in fact, some guitar speakers will make it very hard for you to get a good tone with a multifx pedal. Be prepared to tweak extensively!

Oh yeah, and go in through the line in or fx return, whichever you have available. You are going to want to bypass the preamp entirely – you can try it when the preamp is on clean, but honestly, it should sound better if you just go straight into the power amp. Multifx pedals tend to benefit from a wider frequency response, and since preamps apply gain (some even on a clean channel) and process the tone, etc, you want to avoid all that.

I’m not sure what that pedal has for amp models… not very familiar with it… but try to keep your overall gain only as high as you absolutely need. Too much gain = noise and fuzz and lack of clarity. Not good times. Read the beginning of that site below… read it carefully, it’s good solid advice!

how to get distortion on 15 watt bass amp?

i have a 15 watt dean bass amp it came with my dean edge bass it has 5 knobs whic are volume, treble, middle, bass and presence. is ther any way i can set these to make a good bass distortion? also my friend (who im in a band with he plays guitar) has guitar distortion pedals and wah pedals for guitar etc. would playing my bass through his guitar distortion pedals in my bass amp mess it up and would it sound good? please help me out here

You don’t want distortion playing bass. That would sound like crap. You will blow the speaker on the 15 watt amp if you try to get distortion out of if. Just work on some killer bass lines and be a bad ass bass player. have fun.
