Guitar Pedal Input Jack Wiring

What does this schematic mean?
I’ve recently got into building guitar pedal circuits, and so far I’ve built a few easy ones. I have found this schematic that I want to build:

The thing is it has 3 leads going to the input jack (I know one of them is the common ground), but are there 2 hot wires here???
I’m confused, so any help from someone who knows would be much appreciated!
regards,
Jon
You probably understand the ground connection. The connection that leads to the base of the transistor is the audio from the mic. The capacitor in this line decouples the DC from the battery and passes only the audio from themic. The connection from the battery symbol is power for the mic. Some mics require phantom power and this would provide that power.
How do I change a stereo mic signal to mono?
I want to plug my shure sm58 stereo mic (plug in power) straight into my boss rc2 loop station which only takes mono inputs like a guitar cable. how do i wire a new cable or something so this is possible?
i can’t have another pedal-sized box sitting in sequence, but i could afford to make something that i tape onto the microphone or that’s built into the xrs jack that goes into the microphone.
help appreciated

You need to connect a resistor in series with both the left and right channel signal wire (10k should be suitable).
Connect the free ends of the two resistors together and use that as the signal feed to the mono input.
