Guitar Effects Violin

Guitar Pedals?
I have a few Boss pedals, but one thing I’ve been curious about is whether they make any type of effect pedal that can simulate, say, violin strings. Anybody know where can I find one?
You’ll need to get a midi-interface to your guitar. That way, you can run the signal through any type of midi-synth and choose the sound you want.

For All Violin Players And Sound Engineers Out There!?
Hello My Friends,
Im a composer and i like to record my work, recently i have composed a song and i feel it needs violin, I know a someone who plays violin and am going to ask her would she sit in as a session violinist, my question is;
For the violin players;
How do I explain in as familiar words as possible the tone im looking for , which is dark, powerful, strong, energy underneath, i can hear it but cant find a word but Carmina Burana, O Fortuna Springs To Mind, and would new strings be a good idea ( i change them on the guitar for brightness of tone and use an older guitar for mellower)
And for Sound Engineers;
I Have A SM57 and a SM58 to work with no condersers like id like ]=, and i wanna know and micing techniques how to eq to get the above tone etc do i need to compress of anything of that effect?
Thank You Very Much For Your Time,
Garreth
Its Not an instrumental work its a song theres vocals guitar bass drums and im trying for violin
Hi – I’ve played violin on various albums. In terms of strings – definitely don’t change the strings. New strings on a violin tend to take some time to settle in, so you could well find that you waste your studio time because the violin strings keep going out of tune during your recording time. While different strings can have slight changes in quality this tends to be determined more by what the string is made out of rather than how new they are. 99%+ of the tone and type of sound on a violin is created by the way it is played and the different technical techniques.
In terms of words you use to describe the tone etc. that you’re looking for, I would say when I’m recording new work with a composer present, that the most useful thing the composer can do to get across how they want the piece to sound is not to use ‘official’ music words, but to describe the feel that they’re after using their own words as this gives me a much better idea of what it is they’re really after. If you ask your session violinist to play using the way you’ve described what you’re after in your question, then she’ll have a good understanding of what you’re trying to get over in your music.

John Williams: The Baroque Album $6.80 The great guitarist John Williams has been around the block several times with much of this music, and some of his performances sound as though he’s getting a little tired of it. He plays the guitar extremely well, as always; you will never hear a better-executed performance of the Bach Chaconne, and the difficulties of the Scarlatti Sonatas hardly seem to exist for him. Some of the pieces ne… |
