How do I use rack mounted guitar effects?

I know it’s a pretty stupid question, but I have been playing guitar for 3 years, and I’m becoming interested in more complicated guitar stuff, and I am not sure how these rack-mounted units work, like how do i hook them up to my guitar & amp?

It’s pretty simple. The rack mounted effect units are usually composed of the unit that is rack mounted and a control pedal (not mandatory).

You connect your guitar to the input of the first rackmount effect and continue until the last effect is connected to the amp (that can also be mounted).

The control pedal is usually connected via MIDI, so you can switch the effect on and off by pressing the pedal, just like a regular effect
