Guitar Effects Phaser
How can I interface an electric guitar with a laptop?
If I use a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter and plug the guitar straight into the laptop, there’s a phaser effect and fluctuating volume. If I use guitar amp modeling software like Studio Devil, there’s a delay. If I plug the guitar into an amp and then run a cord from the headphone jack in the amp to the laptop there’s no sound at all. So I’m guessing that I’ll have to buy some kind of external sound card. Or is there something else I can try? It’s got a dual core 2.1 GHz AMD Athlon II P320 processor with 4 GB RAM.
The best audio/midi USB computer interface is an AVID Mbox. Any of these units will solve your problems. I have an Mbox Pro but, all of these units have a broadcast quality sound card and some of them come with Pro Tools recording software. Choose the unit that best fits your situation and budget.

what are your favorite guitar effects to combine?
mine are probably phaser and tape echo
Harmony and Tape Delay.
Although Phaser and Tape Delay are also awesome and close to the same.
I’d say my favorite effect is delay. So there are a lot of combos with it that I like. I’m also a fan of the double delay. Two delay pedals on different timings and settings. Tricky but can make some cool things happen.
