Any1 know any good recording software?
i’m looking for recording software where i can use a mic to record myself on guitar and edit it with effects and pann it etc. for free
something like garage band on macs but for a pc?
Don’t know if there’s a free version of Pro Tools but it might be a bit over the top for a beginner.
Audacity is a free multi track audio recording and editing program.
You will need to experiment with mic position and recording technique to get the best results. Don’t let the “free” put you off. You can obtain very good results but it does take practice and experience.
The output can only be as good as the input so the actual recording will need a bit of trial and error to get right.

Vocal/Guitar effects software. Any reccomendations?
All I want is some software that will take the sound from my line in on my PC, add some effects to it and then output it through the line out.
Free would be best but if it’s one I have to pay for i’d preferre to try out a demo version.
As long as it’s got good reverb on it then i’m happy.

You want to do it in real time?
Ok, stay away from VST plugins. Unfortunatly there aren’t really many free non-vst plugins. The goal is reducing latency – you need a good soundcard. Consdier getting a copy of reason (reason is the software from experimenting which gave me the lowest latency). Getting 0latency is basically impossible, so just aim low, otherwise you’ll sing and it won’t go through the speakers for ages.
