Guitar Effects On Computer Free
Need advice recording music to a computer…?
Hi All
I’m helping a friend record some of his music to get better known. He sounds great live but trying to get his stuff recorded on the cheap is proving difficult(see a couple of attempts on www.myspace.com/martincoyne). I’ve done some encoding using Windows Media encoder but it only allows for one input – normal mike input on a computer.
Can anyone offer advice on the following:
- having various inputs into a computer (i.e. vocals, guitar, drums…is the a card that can deal with this, what are these cards normally called, what are good makes etc.)
-encoding software (is windows media encoder any good and are there other ones, are there free ones)?
-Editing software – once we’ve encoding it is there any good software for changing levels, adding effects to seperate channels etc.
Would really appreciate some help, thanks
try audacity for editing music together and creating remixes

Is there a music program for this?
Is there a good FREE computer program for creating your own music, like drum beats, synthesizers, guitar, bass, stuff like that, but all on the computer? Do you get to choose the notes for the stuff, or for the synthesizer at least? Also, is there a (free) program for editing songs by using effects or changing volume throughout the song? Is there a (free) program for all of this or most of this? Please mention where I can get the program, too.
If there’s no free program for this, is there a cheap one?
And really simple, like for beginners, nothing at all even close to complicated, I’ve never done this before.
