Something wrong with my guitar? Chorus like effect?
I’ve been playing guitar for over one year now, and have gotten pretty good. I have always played an epiphone les paul standard that cost me around 500 bucks, and it has been great. Awesome all-around guitar. The other day, I purchased a ESP LTD M-400 off of craigslist, with the intention of using it as my main guitar, and selling the Epiphone. However, there seems to be a problem with the ESP.
Whenever I play a note, say the 13th fret of the B string, the note played seems to resonate through all the other strings, causing an almost chorus like effect. It’s not only that fret/string combination. It’s anything on the highest 3 strings, lower than 10 frets. Sometimes I don’t notice it at all, but it does annoy the crap out of me. Is there something wrong with the guitar?
I thought maybe it was the effects pedal/amp I was using, but I don’t notice anything like the same effect on my epiphone. Might it be the pickups fault? Too sensative? Using EMG 81 Active Set Pickups.
I am not sure from your description, but for me any time I have had problems with strings not sounding right when played on the higher frets, it’s because the bridge is set too low, & is causing the string to vibrate against some of the remaining frets (or sometimes the metal case of the pick-up) between the held fret, & the bridge.
The best test for this is to try these fret positions with the guitar completely un-amplified, & see if the unwanted sound is still being produced. That way you will know it’s nothing to do with the electronics of the guitar.
If the sound is still there without the amp, then I suggest that you gradually raise the bridge so the strings are clearing the frets when the string has been struck.
Another cause of this same problem is worn out frets. If your frets have tiny grooves cut into them by the strings then that’s probably the root of your problem. The frets can be re-dressed, or replaced, but never by an untrained, or inexperienced hand, so take your axe to a qualified guitar tech.

Can I use my pc as a complete ham radio total outfit/gear/setup/rig?
I ask this question based on the fact that an old time Ham radio gear looks similar to my old guitar amp gear. with all the expensive amps and components are endless..
But now with one simple pc program, I can just plug my guitar into my pc and play any combination of amps, effects, cabinets, tuners, recorders, etc…
things that used to be all cumbersome different components now displayed on my pc screen looking like cartoon versions of their past selves in real life.
Has anyone built a software program that virtualizes all the differnet amps and transceivers and speakers etc… that a ham radio operator needs to execute his hobby? With only the need to plug in a mic into his computer…and maybe a usb interfaced antennae or something?

Interfacing Ham gear using a computer would be unfeasible unless you desired to process or digitize the voice feed. All the rest is way too different to be manipulated by a computer.
