Guitar Effect Pedal Power
How many adapters for my guitar effects pedals can I plug into power strips without worry?
I have 4 or 5 adapters that I plug into powers strips all going to the same outlet. Is that okay? Do I need something more advanced than a power strip? Like, something that can handle that amount of power.
Techically it would most likely be against city code and considered in general not safe, but as long as you have a surge protector on the power strip, you aren’t going to hurt anything.

But it’s just a fancy power strip with surge protector.
But really that’s the norm in music. Before I got a pedal board I was using three power strips into one outlet, with a total of 12 adapters. And I had zero problems. Just make sure you have a surge protectors so you don’t fry the board on the pedal.
A pedal board might be in your interest for the future, it makes things much more organized and gets rid of the adapters.

guitar pedal powers on but no sound?
i have a digi- tech guitar effects pedal i just bought a jensen power adapter for it with all the right specs.it powers up but i have no sound only a little when i put the metranome on but even the if its not turned all the way up it is hard to hear and sounds destorted and quit.i have opened it but it does not look like there are any burn marks or melting,could it be the capacitors if so how can i tell without replacing them all
Hello! Are you sure the power adapter has the correct polarity on the input connector? Some of the effect unit manufacturers seem to deliberately reverse the polarity to get you to buy their own branded power supplies. If this checks out okay, you may need to do a “factory-reset” on the unit. Check on-line for a manual if you do not have one, for the method to do this on your pedal; usually, it is just a matter of holding down a specific switch, while simultaneously powering on the unit.
