Guitar Effect Guide

Wanting to get started up in playing metal any recommendations?
Im wanting to get another guitar and picked up where i left, but since then my style has changed, im wanting to get into playing black/death more specifically melodeath metal, i guess i need to start at the basics, but anyways im wondering if there are any good begginers guitar/effects and guide books on it
The simplest advice is as I say below – find a transcript of the songs you like and learn to play them…
This is a resent post of mine that may be of some help.
Power cords cut down to a di-tone of just root plus fifth. That sounds the heaviest.
Major-scale patterns will get you off to the right start.
Otherwise, look at a previous post of mine for a little more detail. Of course, learn the songs you want to play. Tabs can be had for free here:

If you are unfamiliar with Tabs, know that it is not like reading music and is very easy.
As for the double-speed picking, use more wrist and less forearm to control picking motion.
Q:
How to make my guitar sound ultimately metal?
I want my guitar to sound so incredibly metal, people will **** their pants when they hear me play a single string by itself. I know I need the right humbuckers, but I don’t know which ones. I heard that pros use EMGs, which is one brand I’m considering, but I also heard Seymour Duncans are really good too, and are better than EMGs. Help?

Additional Details
Oh, and I do have an electric guitar, it’s an Ibanez RG-something, and a Peavey Rage 150 amp with a DigiTech Death Metal distortion pedal. I just want some really good humbuckers for playing guitar solos and stuff.

A:
I play Black Metal and Death Metal exclusively.
The “Heaviest” sound I ever achieved came from an old US Custom Mockingbird with an active circuit. It had DiMarzios with a coil-splitter. That’s very important – you will get a heavier rhythm sound from a single-coil at the bridge.
I use eight-gage stings down-tuned very low, often to C#. Lower-gage strings mean less tension and a heaver sound. Do note that though such a configuration is highly conducive to a heavier tone, it is possibly the worst setup for a clean tone. But if you are like me, you listen to only the heaviest music, and then only the most extreme thereof (to wit: Mortician and Marduk) and a clean tone means very little.
The heaviest sound also makes little use of mid-range – basically turn the bass and treble all the way up, and the mid-range all the way down. In fact, if you need a little more tone, use a stereo chorus pedal with the level and tone all the way up and the rate all the way down. Volume and tone on the pickups should be all the way up as well for an extra bit of a blaring effect.
As far as amplifiers go, a solid-state with high gain will do nicely – the best sound I got came from a Crate G-600 XL with a shape matrix on the gain.
Finally, if you play with root plus fifth, you are making the best use of heavy di-tones. Even if the piece calls for a tri-tone, cut the last note out (often the octave) for a heavier sound. This is what made Black Sabbath so unique in their heavy sound way back when – the guitarist is actually missing the tips of his fingers and played the easier di-tones while tuning down. A serendipitous step on the path to the heaviest sound, from necessity, it was…

Need suggestion while buying an electric guitar..?
i ve been playing classical music but now i ve started playing rock scales. so i have decided to buy an electric guitar. so here my question is , what are the other things i need other than the electric guitar. i just want to play in my room with those electric guitar effects and all. please guide
You’ll need a decent guitar, a good strap, amp, tuner and metronome. A starter kit by Epiphone, Yamaha or Fender are good. If you have neighbors prone to complaining, get an amp with a headphone jack and practice that way.
As far as effects, you’ll have to go to the store and see which one suits your tastes.
