Who can forget her memorable turn in Kuffs?

How to become a star for foreigners in the USA?

Hi guys. My name is Eugene, I’m from Ukraine. U know I’ ve gotta a pretty talented friend with a good voice and appearance – female friend(LOL). The problem is that here in Ukrane it’s absolutely impossible to become a singer for common people, whereas in the USA everything is much easier. So, we would like to go there to start singing, recording and stuff – doing everything to become pop or r’nb stars. Music, lyrics are not a problem – we’ve gotta friends-musicians and poets, moreover I can write lyrics on my own. All wed loke to find out is what we should start from or do or where to apply to become a star in the USA – it may sounf ridiculous, but I don’t care actually. I mean, some production studios, recording ones that would influence on her becoming the star in the US. Can any one advise in details on how we should act there. Your assistance would be strongly appreciated.

Thx a bunch, FOLKS!

How to become a star for foreigners in the USA?

Two ways that I can think of:
1.Become a star in Europe first. ABBA won Eurovision before they became famous in the USA
2.Come to the USA and start out from the bottom like everyone else – it might be easier to become a star in the USA, but it is not easy. See below:

If you come to the USA, and you need to play lots and lots of “sh!t gigs”. (sh!t = “Hivno” or “лайно”). “Sh!t gigs” are concerts for little or no money in tiny coffee shops, for charity, or in bad parts of town, or at small town celebrations, etc. You need to start out by singing anywhere someone will let you sing, for at least a year or two because experience on stage is very important. At first, you will get no money for your singing. As you get more experience, you will start to get paying gigs – maybe $30 -$50 for each gig. Later, after you have even more experience, you might get $300 – $500 per night, maybe once every three weeks or so. Don’t forget to smile. Here is one example of an “open mic” gig where people come to perform for free to have fun and gain experience:

Also, you might enter some small, local talent contests (or larger talent contests … if you can get in). Keep smiling.

You need to make a “press kit” which is like a resume listing your music experience with links to your music on “youtube” and on “myspace”. (So you need to make some videos to put on “youtube” and on “myspace”). You can give this “press kit” to bar owners (at first) and to booking agents (once you have more experience). More smiling. Here are two good answers: http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Au9XQOqxRnB4dfXXfa4qVFzpFQx.;_ylv=3?qid=20090114120110AAfg2kx

You need to make lots and lots of connections with people in the music business. The more people you know, the more likely that you will get more and better gigs. Lots and lots of smiling! Here’s a good answer: http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AuybS165E5Yje69sOd4MbnvpFQx.;_ylv=3?qid=20090715115439AAQB4Gw

Having a good voice and good tunes is important, but you also need to be entertaining. You need to know how to move on stage, and what to say to get people’s attention. You can’t just stand there and sing (unless you are singing in a church). Smile, joke, dance, wave your arms:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkEewjmmFEA&feature=related

At first, you need to sing music that the people you are singing to will know. “Cover tunes” of famous singers. (“Los Colorados” always make me smile). Here is Katy Perry, and a cover of Katy Perry:

After you know that people like to hear you sing cover songs, you can introduce one or two original songs. Yes, more smiling.

Make a professional audio recording of at least three original songs, put in on youtube and your myspace, too. Start sending links to your music to anyone who might help you.

Send CD’s of your professional audio recording to A&R reps at the music companies if you want to, but understand that most of your CD’s will go straight into the garbage. A&R reps probably get hundreds of CD’s every day. They usually only listen to CD’s from people that they already know. (But who knows, you might get lucky). See these answers:

http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ap5B.3IywnmqHE0x6DD_POXpFQx.;_ylv=3?qid=1006032112419

If you are really good, the music company A&R reps will find you. (Then you will really have something to smile about). See:
