Which brand do you think makes the best overall motherboard? What about it makes you say that?

I’m looking at purchasing a Socket 939 motherboard of some sort (and an AMD 64 processor). I’m building my first computer and have been doing some research about the many pieces of desktop hardware out there. I mostly edit music and video files, internet use, eMail, listen to tunes, and am also interested in rigging it up to my entertainment center. I WON’T really be playing any games. Which brand Socket 939 motherboard (and possibly a model #) would you folks suggest. Why?

$600-$700 is my overall budget for a motherboard, processor, RAM, hard drive, fans, coolers, and power supply. I may also purchase a DVD burner instead of using my current CD burner. I may try to throw in a TV tuner too. I have a case, floppy drive and CD burner.

Thanks for your time. . .

I would suggest going to www.pcpro.co.uk www.motherboards.org or www.motherboards.com and also www.newegg.com or any other sites you know of that either have reviews and sell computer stuff that you know are good places to go. www.tomshardware.com is a very good one for reviews.

Check out which motherboards they say are good. Try and get that motherboard ( www.crucial.com ) or corsair make pretty good ram, there are obviously other makes of ram.

crucial do a nice x800 ati graphics card at a good price, as for sound card and other components your best bet there would be to get all the pricing info on what you want ( which you I would decide on exactly what you want first ) then add it all up and see what you can / cant afford and chop and change until you get something you like. Or buy the most important parts like motherboard, cpu , power supply and ram from a reasonable supplier and skimp on the other stuff ( If you skip out the sound card, just make sure the motherboard you get has onboard sound ). From what you mentioned in your question it sounds like a reasonably new machine will do that.

I am assuming you are going for a pc. You could also look at getting a mac mini for example would do all of that. Then all you would need is a keyboard, mouse and a screen and speakers obviously.

With regards to motherboards I would suggest Asus or Abit and possibly super micro ( but i think super micro aim there motherboards more at servers, not really sure on that )

Tommy Roe – Greatest Hits [MCA]

$2.55

In the late ’60s, Tommy Roe’s budding bubblegum bop was the kind of stuff aspiring smarties turned their nose up at. He was a “teenybopper” (albeit one who bravely forged a trail soon to be trod by the daintily dreamy likes of Bobby Sherman and the Cassidy Bros.) when many were into revolutionary rock & roll. Much of his material has aged quite nicely however. “Dizzy” is a near perfect pop song. I…

It would be another six months before they really exploded with “Puff the Magic Dragon,” and t…

Why do sailors do so much better than any other profession as the subject for folk songs?

I enjoy folk music and many of the songs seem to focus on sailors. There seems to be far fewer soldier songs – there is the various coloured ‘Cockades’ but if you went to the folk music job centre the section for sea related work opportunities would be far larger than any others it seems to me…

because the Folk movement was about FREEDOM…how much more free can you feel than when you are on the sea? Thats a place of true freedom.
