folk music catalog
Are you drawn to a single artist? Who?

I’ve noticed that, despite being drawn to everything from early folk music to blues to rockabilly to blue-eyed soul to 80s hair metal, there’s always a single artist whose catalog I never seem to grow tired of, and whenever I discover a song I hadn’t heard before of his, I always seem to really enjoy it. That artist of course, is the late, great, Gene Pitney (and to a similar extent Elton John). Has anyone else experienced this kind of artist-musician compatibility in that they produce(d) exactly the kind of music you are wired to enjoy? With what artist?

Tori Amos, i love her so much and will never tire of her songs, i think she is a truley gifted artist, she write and plays her own music, has the most beautiful voice i have ever heard and stays true to who she is, i have listened to her since i can remember and seen her in concert everytime she has visited Australia, i just love her! A very close second is Eric Clapton,,,need i say more? ;- )

band loyalty?

I could pull out of my collection some CDs that I’ve gotten not because they’re good or even ok, but because they were an offering by a favorite band. But, NOT their best stuff by any stretch. It seems that sometimes I just want their entire catalog, good or bad or mediocre. Used music stores do make that easier. Any similar experiences here for any of you folks?
Shades—
well, for whatever reason you don’t collect like that, I KNOW you probably have more useable space than I do. MY wife often asks just where do I plan to put a new purchase.
Darth —
I’m with you. I don’t do that with Sabbath, but I do have some good dust collectors in the collection.

I do that. I can’t seem to help myself. I have Both With Teeth, and Year Zero by Nine Inch Nails, two terrible albums. In my defense With Teeth I bought expecting another great record. year Zero I bought just out of loyalty. ( Please Trent, don’t make me do this again!!!!)
