What kind of strings should I put on my acoustic folk guitar?
The current set of strings it came with are a Godin branded Phosphor bronze light strings. I’ve done some research and apparently they’re rebranded d’addarios (I think, correct me if i’m wrong). Since i just started out, i don’t really know what set of strings i should buy next to replace them when they break/get dull. I’ve heard that elixirs are some of the best, but i’ve also heard that d’addarios are just as good (i came across several d’addario vs elixir forum debates :/) can anyone tell me a little more about them and what type would go best with my simon and patrick songsmith folk guitar? apparently, different strings sound better/worse depending on the guitar as well. please give me opinions based just on sound and quality of strings/playability all of that, and do not factor in price.
Experiment, I personally I find that the elixers are a bit plasticy sounding, try daddarios in either 10′s (lower tension, easier to play) or 12′s(higher tension and firmer tone)
