Tips for buying a guitar amp?

I play mostly acoustic and I just in these last couple months picked up electric. I’m upgrading from a 10w fender amp and I’m just looking for something that is a little more powerful and that I can experiment with effects on.

I don’t perform or anything, I’m just looking for a good dynamic beginner amp which will be good for fooling around with friends and such. To do delay and distortionary effects etc. do I need a multi effects pedal, or do they make amps with that already built in? Thanks!

I got the perfect amp for you. No Question
I have one myself, much better than a crappy Fender amp.
Line 6 spider III 15 $99
It has the best built in effects for an amp that size. The echo delay is great and it has good reverb and chorus and phase/flange, too.
I tried every 15 watt practice amp at guitar center and that one beat all the others hands down, including Fender, Marshall, Roland whatever wsa there.

guitar tips and questions?

Ive been playing for about a year but only playing some chords. Im bring taught by a pastor and i play at my church so i dont have a lot of experience. I play electric and i wanna learn how to play Metalcore, Post-Hardcore, rock pretty much bands i listen to. (The Devil Wears Prada, Bring Me the Horizon, Pierce the Veil, Silverstein, My Chemical Romance) I also have some questions.
1. What is a pedal used for and do i need one and what kind?
2. What kind of amp should i get? Something thats not too expensive below 300 would be nice.
3. What are the bridge and neck pickups for?
4. I have a Epiphone Les Paul Studio. It has a switch that says rhythm and treble. What is the difference between them when i play?
5. How can i change the sound of my guitar? Like everyone has a different sound for their guitar. Des the pedal and amp change the sound of it?
6. Any tips or anything else i should know?
Please help. I dont know too much and i want to know and get better at playing.

Hello, I’m Nikki Hornsby http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikki_Hornsby who has been a professional musician in the recording music industry since forever & a band leader, arranger-producer, voting Grammy member, etc.
Fact if you were in the area, I would give you lessons for a reasonable price 6199383322 or anyone in beginning guitar or voice… in any style of music you’d like to learn. I would instruct as well in how to do it fast & effectively.
To answer your #s:
1. Depends on which kind of pedal you have since there are many different kinds for different kinds of effects. Some pedals are even for volume control but again you didn’t indicate which kind you would like.
2. If you want a warm sound the tube amp is a good choice but playing metal music you don’t need the warmth as a major preference. A hollow body guitar like an ovation or martin might need the warmth projected. If that tone quality doesn’t matter there are many Fender guitar amps that would be just fine and prices are variable like buying a car.
3.If you have a pickup in the bridge which is normal but also in the neck then you’ll have the sound picked up from both places.
4. Rhythm means that it’s a full six (12) string sound and the treble is the thinner strings area and works good for the lead work using those strings.
5. Changing the sound quality or intonation is controlled by the amplifier in conjunction with the pickups & pedals.
6. Each instructor should instruct you to a certain point of their experience. Always giving you knowledge from where you can move to another mentor. Always ck their performance live statistics if you may want to go to the level of concert performances & touring etc. Find the one who is willing to share their past knowledge & experiences with you or ones who will wisely direct you to ones who can help you on your journey.

Best advice for lead guitar work is to sit and learn lead lines off of recordings of songs you like and play them over and over. Then be creative and learn harmonics of sound (increasing vol. & decreasing vol. at certain parts) since musicians ALWAYS follow the singer and do not let anyone tell you different.

Only Karaoke singers follow the music set in stone since they don’t work with live musicians who are artists of a learned craft.

Last but not least but actually first:

Use your good ears and listen. Always tune those ears to hear the correct 440 tuning first.
Record your own work and listen over & over again. Like in sports the football team records their plays and reviews.

This is what you do for the craft of the trade of learning to being a good musician which is an honorable job. Remember most the classics were all written by musicians.
