Effects Pedals Signal Chain
Any ideas for my signal chain? No looping able.. Thanks!?
Here are my pedals:
Keeley modded DS-1 Distortion
Turbo Rat Distortion
Boss PS-3 Pitch Shifter Delay
RE-20 Space Echo Delay
PH-2 Phaser
DOD FX75C Flange
Digitech Whammy IV
I have just gotten in most of them and haven’t gotten to experiement. The Keeley is still on the way, along with the PH-2 Phaser. Does my list look like it might be set up good enough already? I know to run the time based effects last, but I figured if the Whammy was last all the others wouldn’t sound as digitally modified. Don’t really know.

That Keeley might sound kinda nice last on the chain. I guess it all depends on what you are looking for. There is no right or wrong in music….just mass appeal.

Noise from Wah into Overdrive?
Here is my signal chain > Dunlop ZW Wah – DOD YJM308 Overdrive – ISP Decimator Noise Suppressor – Amp.
I like to run my overdrive pretty much full blast and my ISP keeps everything nice and tight, but when I kick on my wah I get this screaching sound and it drives my Overdrive crazy. I either have to turn up the threshold on the ISP or turn the Gain and Level on the Overdrive down to about 12 o’clock to get rid of the noise. All of which effect my tone. Can anyone tell me what I can do to solve this?
I’ve thought about putting another noise suppresor after the wah but I’m afraid that might effect my tone as well. Does some kind of buffer exist that can prevent this from happening without having tone loss?
I know that the “VOX Saturator Distortion Pedal” has the “PAD” function that I think helps with this problem but I don’t want to change my Overdrive.

Hi Joseph. First off I assume your leads are high quality and that you tried this effect set-up with another guitar – and preferably also another amp. It is almost spooky what 1st class cables will do to the sound. Conversely – a guitar which isn’t properly shielded may cause all sort of unwanted noise…
If I were you I would try changing the order of the effects and have the wah after the overdrive, just to see if A. this solves the issue, and B. you can live with the changes to your sound.
Also – if you can’t live without this particular overdrive, you may want to try another drive in front of it, just to push it a bit harder. This will probably help turning the DOD level down and still get the same drive out of it.
Of course, it may also be that these particular effects don’t speak too well to one another, and that the last option may be to try other wahs and overdrives.
Finally, there may of course be some minor hick-ups with either the wah or the drive.
I haven’t heard of any buffer or similar piece of kit which can solve this particular issue
