I am looking for a good guitar Distortion… please help me?

My gear is a Yamaha ERG 121C with EMGs 81/85 active ZK set with wilkinson bridge by gottoh, with a POD Live XT combined with a boss DS-1 pedal + Fender Frontman 65R amp.
I have been killing myself to find a good distortion with a good timbre, much like steve vai or joe Satriani, if anyone can help me, it would be MUCH appreciated,

Wow, I love that you took a cheap guitar and, well… polished that turd!!! LMAO!!! Well, you have some of the best pickups out there for getting a great metal sound. The Line 6 stuff is great for modeling. Im not a huge fan of their stuff, but its a lot of fun. You should be able to dial in a great sound and tone with it anyway. If you are really looking for a Vai/Satriani sound, why do you have Zakk Wylde active pickups? Both Vai and Satch use passives, I think they both use DiMarzio actually. You should be able to find a decent setting on the Pod.
Don’t forget, most of how Satch and Vai get their sound and tone is because of HOW they play, not what they use. You can only do so much.
Try using some EQ settings, reverb, delay, echo, and modifying the distortion sounds. Also, both players utilize all the pickups on their guitars.
