boss pedals demos
What effects should I get to use on my voice?

Hi, I sing in a band as well as play some other instruments. I am really into vocal effects but I want some outside opinions on what effects I should buy. I would really like to get some analog pedals and have been looking at Electro-Harmonix. But I am open to other brands as well. I am also looking at rackmount effects processors as well. I currently have the Digitech vocal effects pedal, Boss DD3 Digital Delay, Boss Tremelo, Lexicon Rackmount Effects Processor, and I also use the Antares AVP1. I currently don’t have any of my singing up online but I tend to sing in the higher range, but at times I will do lower as well. So I am looking for effects to compliment both sounds. Also you can check out some demos of my band so you can get an idea of the musical style. myspace.com/thevisiontheguilt

thanks for the help.

this will probably be of no help to you whatsoever… but watch some of imogen heap’s videos… and try to note at what she does.. and perhaps you would be intersted in buying some of the same equipment she uses..

or i could be totally off, and it isn’t a voice effects.. just an over-playing thing.. but it still sounds sweet.

why is it that harmonics sound different on certain distortion pedals?

About a month ago, i went to guitar center, excited because i was going to get the boss metal zone. I had looked up videos reviewing and demoing the pedal, and I had liked what I heard. However, after I bought it and plugged it in, I tried playing some pinch harmonics. However, they just sounded like little whines. i returned the pedal, and continued using my digitech rp90. The harmonics sound excellent on the rp90. However, my question is, why do harmonics sound different in certain distortion pedals. For example, if I played a pinch harmonic on the rp90, why does it sound clearer than if i played it on, say, the digitech grunge?

I’m not a big fan of multi-effects so I have used them very little. But it seems to me that the ones I have used were overly hot on the more extreme distortion settings. That maybe why the MT-2 wasn’t as easy to do harmonics on compared to your Digitech. Stomp box pedals like the MT-2 just don’t seem as touchy as the multi-effects units like the RP90. This is not a bad thing in my book.
