Best Guitar Effects Brand
Best amp/pedal set up for punk or pop punk sound?
I’m in a band and gig pretty regularly but now it’s time for me to step it up slightly!
I was wondering – all you guitar experts out there – if someone could shed some light onto a really good amp and pedal combination that will give me a great pop/punk sound that can be versatile with effects etc… I have been looking at Line 6 Spider IV amps along with their pedals but are there any other models or brands that I should take a look at…? Money is an option but I have quite a large budget so can stretch if necessary! I’m in the UK by the way.

I can understand why you are attracted to Line 6 equipment, I was too. Before making my final decision however, I decided to compare sound for sound the Line 6 POD X3 Live with the BOSS GT-10. I urge you to try that same test before you make your final decision. As far as an amplifier to match those with, let me suggest something a little unorthodox to you. The primary purpose of your amplifier is simple to add volume to the sound of the guitar and the effects processor. So, you can get more bang for your buck by purchasing a stereo power amplifier and then getting some really high quality speaker cabinets to go with that power amp. Or, just purchase a pair of powered speaker cabinets like these: http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~JBL-PRX-512M~ID~6546.asp – You could buy a $2000 Marshall amp head and speaker cabinet but, you get 5 times the volume and a much higher quality sound with these babies for a lot less cash out of pocket. I play through a QSC GX5 500 watt stereo power amplifier and I have twin JBL JRX115 speaker cabinets to go with them. My total cost for this amplifier and speaker setup is about $1100 US including all the cables. My BOSS GT-10 cost me about $400 more. A top of the line 100 watt Marshall amp with 12″ speakers sells for around $2000 here. When I play live, I have guitar players coming up to me all the time asking about my sound and what kind of amplifier I have. When I show them what I’m using, no one believes it but, the proof is in the sound quality. Go listen to some amps and speakers see for yourself.

Looking for pedal effects for guitar?
I am looking for a combination of different effect for my guitar. I am not really looking for distortion, but more clean stuff and wah and flanger and different things like that. I am lost when it comes to effects, do I get like something that has a bunch of built in effects or just buy a bunch of single pedals for the diff things I want (I think a bunch of diff pedals is what I see most people do)
If so what brands and effects do you suggest??

dont worry about what brand it is (that never matters, like some fenders are good some are utter crap.
distortion is a main one i suggest, but if you practice using it alot and you have a good electic then it gives off a clean sharp sound. ( use a pick for this )
You can get a pipe thingi that goes around your lil finger by the frets and that can give a blusey/country affect however it is not a pedal.
