Folk Music Duets

Violin & Piano Duet Music?
I want to do a violin piano duet but I can’t think of any songs to do. The guy I’m playing with wants like an irish, scottish folk piece. I’ve never played that type of music on piano, so is that style hard to play? Also, If there are any other types of music (can be classical, jazz, rock, etc.,) that sounds upbeat and has a moderate to fast tempo that would be great!
Nothing too hard and nothing too easy, just the middle!
Thanks
Irish or Scottish folk fiddle tunes are fairly easy to accompany on piano. They tend to be in easy to play keys like D (most common), A, G, or C — sometimes in relative minor keys like A minor or E minor. As the accompanist, your job is to keep time and play bass lines and rhythm chords, let the fiddler play the melody. Remember that these tunes are dance music, so your main job is to play a steady tempo with a clearly defined beat.
Check out these You Tube videos to get a sense of what your piano accompaniments should sound like:

The Other Side $11.99 Only in America could an album like this have come together: Eva Cassidy, a young vocalist who, had she lived, might have gone on to become her generation’s favorite song interpreter, trading verses with Chuck Brown, seasoned godfather of the D.C. underground funk movement known as go-go. By the time this was recorded in 1992, the go-go trend had long since peaked for Brown, while the twentysometh… |

We Three Kings Christmas Song help?
The past couple of Christmas Seasons, I heard a great version of “we three kings”. It is a duet with a man and woman, acoustic and the tempo is a bit faster than the traditional version. There are some soft drums in the back round. The singers harmonize often in the song. It almost has a folk/country feeling to it. But there is not any horns, violins, bells or anything else. I hear it on the radio and even recently over a mall’s music. The closest I found was a version by The Roches (a sister trio). But I actually was able to contact them and they never did a version along with a male voice.
Please help, its been bugging me for years now!! Also, it is probably more contemporary, so it isn’t an old classic or anything.
Thank you, Merry Christmas.
This might be a long shot…I was actually just looking for a song that sounds a lot like what you’re describing; I think it might be “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings” by Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McLachlan. Here’s a link:
Hope it helps, and have a merry Christmas!
