Guitar Pedal Overdrive
Guitar pedal help, overdrive?
I’m trying to get a “light overdrive” sound, like those alternative/indie rock bands. I have a Fender Mustang 1 amp and Fuse software… The Overdrive stomp box settings are Level, Gain, Mid, Low, and High…. I’ve been playing with the software all day, I can never seem to get the kind of sound I want out of the amp… I mostly play acoustic guitar and I find this guitar amp stuff to be so overwelming.
Well level is just volume. Gain is like a secondary volume but controls the amount of distortion as well as making things a little louder when turned up. Low is Bass Mids can make the guitar sound louder when turned up and more “airy” and when turned down sounds more like your listening under water. Highs are just higher pitched sounds and can make things sound more or less “tinny”.
I would probably keep the gain somewhat low with a good amount of mids and lows and keep the highs somewhat low.
Heavy music usually has everything up almost all the way with the mids low. so steer clear of that if your looking for an “indie” sound.

Is it possible to use a guitar pedal to modify a microphone?
Basically I want to be able to change my voice live, without any technology except for a microphone, a guitar pedal (such as a flanger, wah-wah, or overdrive), and an amp. My idea is that I can plug the mic into the pedal and then the pedal to the amp, and I can use it just as I would a pedal for a guitar.

Absolutely! All you’re talking about is modifying an electrical signal. Any audio that goes into a pedal can come out. There’s even a Beastie Boys song where a guy modifies his turntable through a wah-wah pedal.
